We never just never know..... / Gary King (Berklee alum )
I did not have a class with Terry but I felt compelled to leave a note here after randomly going through some old notes and finding a sheet of paper with her name that a friend had given me as a reference to look up when I first moved to Los Angeles in 2002. I never called and I'm sorry that I didn't. I remember receiving notice of Terry's passing in the alumni newsletter but not making the connection that I was in possession of her name and contact info. We never truly know how our paths connect in this lifetime a random scrap of paper that someone gave you with someone else's name the ability to find out about that person with the simple touch of a button to read about their entire life encapsulated in touching paragraphs by people you don't even know. And in the midst of that mystery there is always present this connection that underlies everything that we are all one that we all seek happiness in the things we do that we all suffer and that the essence of life is that all things begin and end at some point. I'm sorry I never called you Terry and I know your journey continues forward in the memories of those who knew you and a life well-lived. In loving kindness..... Close

So Many Lessons Learned From Terry / Aaron Treptow (Student)
I find myself reaching this memorial of Terry extremely late, but I wanted to post in hopes that what I have to say reaches someone close to her.
Terry was a professor of mine at Berklee for just one upper-division engineering course. I wish I could have had more, but nonetheless learned so much in that short span. She was hard on her students, the way you needed to be to cut through. I remember turning in an assignment I had labored on, feeling proud, only to find out a week later I made numerous mistakes. It was a wake up call that I never needed again in her class. I always wanted to make her proud of me.
Even with my limited time with her she was willing to give me her reference when I told her I was moving to Austin after school. Her stories and her accomplishments will always live with me. We will all see her again soon. Close

I am a Berklee grad, but did not know Terry. My thoughts bring me back to the death of Robin Coxe-Yeldham, also a professor in the MP&E team.
I have the sense that Terry was one who was dedicated beyond her own self toward her work and those that her work served.
All of us are completely indebted to this sacrifice -- Terry, Robin, and those that went before. We, as students of the craft, take with us the legacy of those who have taught us. For me, it's been Bill Gitt, Andy Edelstein, and Wayne Wadhams. Had I been born years later, it certainly would have been Terry.

Goodbye From Texas / Justin Douglas (Student/Friend)
My friends and I were Terry's first pet project when she came to Berklee. We took all her classes and enjoyed hanging out with her, talking shop over drinks. I kept in touch with here years after I graduated and met up with her for drinks whenever I was in Mass.
Terry was an incredibly strong and smart woman who really cared about others. Always full of good advice and eager to hear your stories, she was one of those rare people who's truly inspirational and was as passionate about our success as her own own.
From your Texan buddies, we miss you Terry. Close

Terry was the first female engineer I met when I started and she was a friend from get-go. We worked at A&M, Westlake, and many others. We had lots of fun with Hank, Tom, Norm and Doc Severinsen. I will always have great memories. It was a shock to find this site an learn of her passing. I know she in up there with the others, mixing the"Angles" and making heavens music!
I will miss you Terry, sorry we did not connect over the past 10 years.
My thoughts are with Tim, The Colonel and your mother.

It's amazing to read all the rememberances from friends, students, and "chosen" family, and family. Amazingly and not surprisingly we all have had such similar life experiences knowing Terry. Terry was such a good friend to me my entire life and the love we shared was very special. It's not surprising to hear that everyone that had the opportunity to have her in their lives felt the same. Tim blessed me by reading my letter" to Terry at her memorial brunch...in my absence. In addition to what I shared in that tribute to her, I want to share that she ALWAYS shared her love to me for her immediate family, colleagues, students, and friends at every opportunity. It is such a pleasure to read that her influence on her students was so profound too. Terry will live on in all of us

Although I did not have the special pleasure of personally knowing or working with or learning from Terry, from a distance I have always admired her. The thoughts that her close friends and associates have written on this page are so incredibly touching and brings me a little closer to her light, one that I am sorry did not touch me directly, but makes its way to me nonetheless. What a person she she must have been. My blessings to her husband Tim, family and close loved ones at this difficult time. Peace ;-) Close

Although I never Had Terry as a prof at Berklee, She was a wealth of information and always had a friendly face on. As a young kid at the time I had much to learn about recording from the technical of where to put a mic to the vibe aspects of the studio. Terry did it all with style. I learned much from sitting in on her clinics she brought to Berklee as well from just talking to her about various albums in my collection that she had engineered. I feel honored to have known Terry for the time I have. She will be missed greatly. Close

Terry lives on through her music. For me, each time I hear Dust in the Wind, a song that still plays every day in every city, I recall our work together on that project. Her engineering skills are responsible for the sonic beauty of this recording. She was a pioneer, leading the way for many female engineers that followed. Terry was the first truly great engineer I worked with and I carry her influence to this day. Close

How can one so diminuitive have a heart large enough to hold all of us like this?- It is so very Terry (her words :-). I feel honored to have known Terry and will always cherish what I learned from her about living, loving, and where to put a mic. The hair, the shoes, the drag. She did a rock classic, "Dust In The Wind"! That impeccable judge of character....
She will be with me always. So much so that my heart and my brain are having a serious disagreement.
Tim, two ladies have connected me to you and you have my eternal love and respect. My heartfelt condolences to all. Close

Terry you were a wonerful person and I truly repsected your talent and love of life. Girls can be great engineers too! You proved there are no limits if you have the talent. You will be missed. Having seen you only a month or so ago and meeting you for the 1st time my husband Brian commented what a good vibe Terry has, I'd like to hang out with her and Tim. I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to see you again and let Brian see what a cool woman you were. Fly high angel. Love Candace Close

You might be reading this; and. if you are, you know how much we loved you and respected you. With all of the long hours we worked together as a team, we cannot remember any instance of tension or stress. What we do remember is the joy of working with a total professional who took our music seriously and put herself into the mix. It doesn't matter when these albums were recorded, they remain timeless because they contain the love we all shared for the work.
We are also glad that you hooked up with our old friend Tim, who we knew from back in the old Wally Heider days in San Francisco. He is also a wonderful human being, and we know he misses you terribly, as we do. We'll see you again someday, somewhere. Kisses & Hugs!! Close

You've danced well! I am truly blessed to have you graced my life for not only have you taught me the flow of a tracking or mixing session but also to remember that it is not that hard to make it through whatever life throws at us. That it is what we make of it that matters. Thank you for being such a lovely being, always - and I mean always, with a beautiful smile, a kind heart, tons of encouragements and a truly amazing spirit. May you light the heaven above as brightly as you have lit our lives.
